Payton released his grip on Priscilla and lowered his voice. "Isn't it enough that you've stolen the hearts of all the men in town?"
Priscilla was indignant. "I haven't stolen a thing around here. I don't want anyone courting me."
"Not even me?" Payton heard himself say.
"You? Are you saying that you do want to court me?"
"Hell no, I don't want to court you. I want to..."
"You want to what?" Priscilla asked softly. "Maybe it's the same thing I want."
Payton laughed. "I doubt we're talking about the same thing, sweetheart, but why don't we find out?"
He pulled her into his arms and brought his mouth down on hers.
